Beneficial Food Habits

The food and drink that are beneficial for teeth contains Vitamin D that contributes to their strengthening. In order to attain good oral health one must maintain some beneficial food habits which provide Vitamins for strengthening teeth. Oral hygiene is a very important aspect for attaining healthy teeth along with it having good food habits is also necessary.

Breads and cereals are rich in Vitamin B and fruits and vegetables contain Vitamin C both the vitamins are beneficial for health of gum tissues and hence should be consumed in proper ratio. For attaining oral health consuming meat, poultry and fish provide magnesium and zinc to teeth which increases longevity and strengthens the teeth.

Some beneficial foods also act as protection to teeth against cavities. Milk and cheese are helpful in reducing teeth exposure to acid. All food articles increases saliva production which helps in cleaning surface of the teeth and hence decreases the risks of discoloration of teeth.

Harmful Food Items : The food items rich in sugar content are commonly associated with dental cavities and thus should be avoided. Some cooked starches such as crisps/ potato chips may also be harmful for teeth and can cause teeth decay. Not only artificially refined sugar but also the sugar found in fresh fruit and fruit juices which may cause dental cavities. Another factor that increases the risk of cavities in the teeth is the food that sticks to the teeth particularly those having sugary content. Thus it is important that one maintains a regular dental care regime with the routine of regular brushing and flossing the teeth.
